Authentic Design

Imagine walking into a home where every detail feels like it was made just for you. No cookie-cutter trends, just a space that reflects your soul. This is the power of authentic design. Instead of chasing the latest fads, let's explore how to create interiors that are truly meaningful and unforgettable.

We talked about the power of observation in the beginning stages of design. Now what? What do we do with that information? The foundation has been laid. And now every design decision, selection, question, should point back to you.

“I need to know the style of my client”

We want to first acknowledge that trends happen for a reason. It’s a celebration of what is happening in society, past era’s, and history. They are informative and something to base inspiration off of, but we challenge you to reframe the way you start your designs.

Styles change, trends change, but what if we created a design around our homes, around our clients, that are so authentic to who they are that maybe there isn’t an absolute style or trend that you are trying to accomplish? Sure, it is easy to see a beautiful photo curated on pinterest. We challenge you, let those design inspired images stay as inspiration. Instead, trust and challenge yourself to engage in a design perspective that is so aligned with your space that others can’t help but pause and think “Woah. What’s different about this place?”. The beautiful reality is that this sort of design is completely tangible. If we allow ourselves to stop “trying to fit the trend”, we become authentic and great design happens.

Allow the lessons of observation and empathy dictate the direction of your design, and from there, allow inspiration to inspire your design perspective.

There have been moments in my [Audrey] life where I have witnessed people step into a space and think “Wow, this feels so welcoming” or “Wow, I love your space, what did you do to make it feel this way?” Safe. Comfortable. Different. On the contrary, I have also been the person to walk into a beautifully imperfect space and have thought “Wow, this space is so beautifully designed” but recognized the soul is what made it amazing. I think about the moments growing up where it was as simple as my mom setting a beautifully curated table with the most amazing meal. I think about stepping into my brother-in-law's brooklyn brownstone where the stairs are slightly crooked, but the worn in walnut finish has layers of stories walking through the hallways. And his best friends were the ones who fitted his home with artwork. I think about the 600 sf apartment that my husband and I first lived in for 3 years, above a garage, in our best friend's backyard. Perfectly imperfect, but ours. I find that the correlation in all these beautifully curated design moments are :

  1. Authenticity

  2. Art + Accessories speak to the owner

  3. Appropriate use of design elements

  4. It has never been a design focused on a single “Style” or “Trend”

To our clients, let your personality be the guiding light.

Cheers, ROSI.
